Kiki Baggerman-Webster

I have been an OADG member since the early 1990s, joining when my interests changed from eventing to dressage since my horse at the time “Zach” was just not a very good jumper. I found dressage to be extremely rewarding and limitless and have continued in dressage to this day. I only became active in the group as a volunteer and director in 2002 as Membership Director, 2003 Awards Director, and finally CADORA Rep and Chairperson. I have found each position very rewarding, allowing me to learn many new things, and make many new acquaintances. When I started I thought there was no way I could do these things, but with lots of help and support I have learned each position.

I began riding in my early teens, taking lessons at a local barn where we all rode ponies bareback. Once you could master the pony bareback, you got a saddle and into a regular lesson program. I only purchased my own horse after graduating from University. My first horse was an old style stock buckskin Quarter horse, 15.1 hh that started me out in eventing. He eventually went on to compete in intermediate jumper!

Now I have “Brendan”, a 16.2 hh Canadian Sport Horse. I purchased him as a 3 year old, and he has been quite the project. He has slowly learned the finer points of dressage. We have campaigned successfully on the Trillium circuit for many years now. My goal is to attend some National circuit shows with him eventually.

As many of you know I love the freestyle part of dressage. My husband finds the music and puts the different pieces together, and I work on the choreography. It is great fun no matter what happens in the ring on show day because you can always ad-lib when things don’t happen quite right.
